Experiences with spray tans?

I have very fair/ sensitive skin- so going outside and in tanning beds are not an option for me to tan. I have an important event coming up that I really want to get a spray tan- please if anyone has had experiences with spray tans- please share. I specifically wanted to know (1) are they inexpensive (or about the same as a tanning bed)? (2) most importantly: HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?. Any feed back will be appreciated, Thank you.Experiences with spray tans?
I spray tan at and use a booth called Versaspa. I like it better than Mystic. I have been doing it for months and there is kind of art to it to get it even and not orange, but its not hard.

I go once or twice a week. I always go late at night around 10:30, (they close at 11). The reason I go at night is because your body soaks up and absorbs more moisture at night and your tan will be more even than if you did it in the morning.

Ok so to prepare for the sunless spray I take a warm shower/bath. I use a cleansing soap all over. Then I use a body scrub (find a good one with exfoliating granules in it) I use it all over and focus on the rough spots. This gets all the dead skin off your body. The dead or rough skin on your body is what contributes to a funky orange or blotchy spray tan so its important to exfoliate well. Then I use a regular moisturizing lotion all over. I let that soak in about 20 min - 1 hour before I spray tan. You need to let the lotion soak into the skin so it will be even. It is kinda like primer before foundation.

Then you go to the spray booth they will let you know what to do from there. It won't get in your hair because they give you a cap to protect it. Just pull the cap up a little over your hairline so the tan can spray your roots and hairline to look natural. It will wash out of your hair. They will give you a mositure or barrier cream to apply to your hands fingertips and bottom of your feet and toenails. This keeps the color from getting to these areas because you dont want your palms or bottom of your feet tanned. I put a good bit of the cream on my hands because this is the hardest part to keep even. Just keep trying to see what works for you.

Oh, and I always wear baggy t-shirts, sundresses, or baggy sweat shirts and sweat pants, oh and flip flops. Form fitting or tight clothes, and bras and panties will smudge and ruin the tan. So just go in jogging-wear or something. Just loose clothing.

Then I come home, and go to sleep with my tan. I ALWAYS choose the clear formula over the bronze formula. The bronze has instant color but I find that it doesn't develop as even as the clear formula, and the bronze formula will always stain your clothes and sheets. So I choose the clear and it will develop in 6 - 8 hours. I do it at night so it develops while I sleep. I also do the medium color to get a good dose of tan without being to dark.

Don't get your tan wet, or wash your hands or shower for the next 6-8 hours.

I wake up in the morning with a pretty sunkissed tan.

Everytime you shower, moisturize, moisturize!!! It helps to keep your tan looking nice and even and your skin vibrant and pretty. Oh and the sunless tanning formula has something in it that tends to dry out skin. So to keep it even always use lotion and moisturize as needed. Drink lots of water too. Repeat the process next time you go to sunless tan. Always remember to exfoliate well before you go. You need to get the dead skin and previous tan off your skin.

Me ^_^

I have been doing the spray tan for like a year now, 1-2 times a week regurarly. It is much better for you skin than cancerous and aging sun beds or tanning.

Have fun!Experiences with spray tans?
Spray tans are cheaper then going to tanning beds. They are usually around $9-$15 a can, depending where you get it and brand name.

Professional doctors say that it's better to usea spray tan and that they use them and they lookgreat, so they must work.

I asked a question on here about tans and everyone told me to use jergens, but i personally dont like the smelland its a lotion not a spray.

I bought dove recently and it doesnt smell terrible. But i would like to use the spray tans as well.

Im fair too, you just have to try it for yourself, it's different on everyone.
